Home Ideas: Monochrome Bathroom Inspired by Cannes 2013: Get the Look!

Submitted by on Monday, 20 May 2013 | One Comment

I was looking at all the gorgeous outfits at the Cannes Film Festival and noticed how the monochrome look is being worn by many of the top celebrities such as Carey Mulligan, Emma Watson and Justin Timberlake.  So with monochrome being such a popular trend in the celebrities and their clothes, we thought it would be a great look to try out at home with interiors in mind.

The bathroom is one room which can get away with the monochrome look.  A combination of blacks and whites look sleek and sexy and not to mention easier to maintain.  If you are thinking of renovating your bathroom or updating your look and have the luxury of a light bathroom then the monochrome look can be achieved with very little effort.  With a little lick of paint and accessorising you can also create the chic look without breaking the bank.

The monochrome is a dead cert if you follow our look below and check out some of our highstreet finds to buy for your new look…

Monochrome Bathroom

1. Dulux Wall Colour

This grey colour is great for the monochrome look we are trying to achieve.  Instead of using black on the walls which could make a smaller bathroom look even more smaller, grey is a perfect alternative and still fits in with the theme.

2. John Lewis Blinds

These fabric roller blinds work well with the monochrome bathroom look.  The geometric design certainly gets your brain working whilst you relax in the bath tub.

3. Debenhams Paintings

These set of 4 chunky canvases featuring pebbles are perfect for the bathroom.  The pebbles signify water and the outdoors and the grey background works but is not too overpowering for the monochrome look

4. BHS Towels

We love this striped white and black bathroom towel.  Hang the towel over your bath or on a towel rail and they will certainly look fab.

5. John Lewis Shower Curtain

This striped shower curtain featuring the key colours in our monochrome palette looks great  over a bath, for those of you that need to keep the splashes at bay.

6. B&Q Toilet Seat

We love this fishes inspired toilet seat.  Using a grey back, the fishes on the seat look funky and add some fun to a bathroom accessory which usually shy’s away.

7. Wickes Floor Tiles

Black for the floor not only looks modern and sleek but is great when it comes to cleaning too.  Less dirt marks will appear as opposed to a light floor leaving you to concentrate on making your bathroom look good rather than cleaning.

8. John Lewis Bin

A black is a must, however rather going for the conventional black bin, we love this sqaure shaped one from John Lewis

9. Selfridges Baskets

This knitted basket is great for holding all your shower flannels, soaps and skincare products so you can  keep that bathroom tidy when not in use.
