Rita Ora Models for Madonna’s Label Material Girl
Strikingly beautiful and the epitome of London fashion, Rita Ora seems the perfect candidate to front an edgy, new clothing brand. With London landmarks as a backdrop, Ora strikes her poses, looking totally at home in front of the camera as well as in the clothes.
Material Girl is the brand on which Madonna collaborates with her sixteen year old daughter Lourdes and is very young and edgy, so we’ll take it as a compliment that London was chosen as the fashionable backdrop to the photo shoot. Rita Ora followed in the impressive footsteps of British model Georgia May Jagger, but does she live up to her reputation?
Well, in a word, yes. Rita Ora looks superbly sexy and cool and a little bit cheeky and wears the collection like it was made for her. In short she’s the perfect brand ambassador. And the collection itself looks interesting too; I particularly like the colourful patterned leggings and the striped maxi dress with thigh high split. Not the faint hearted, this collection packs a punch using different prints, colours, shapes and styles that will really make you stand out from the crowd.
In the words of Rita Ora herself: “What Material Girl means is just so much more than just a girl, it means confidence, it means belief and inspiration, and freedom to really express yourself.”
Madonna herself follows the confidence and self expression rules, and pioneered many trends in her heyday in the Eighties. From the Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra to the heavy cross earrings and lace gloves with layers of necklaces and black tutu’s. Not your usual wardrobe essentials, but definitely a trend pioneer.
With Madonna’s notoriety in pop music as well as the fashion industry, Rita Ora will want to emulate her career as much as she can. Maybe with her own clothing label with friend Cara Delevigne, if the rumours are to be true…
