The Show: Redefinition – When Tech Meets Fashion

Submitted by on Wednesday, 21 September 2011 | No Comment

With London Fashion Week drawing to a close, I almost feel like I am going to miss the hustle and bustle of catwalk shows not to mention the interesting Twitter Tweets and Facebook Likes which have been cropping up regarding the event.  However, not to fear as you can re-ignite this fashion craving once more with an extra special and unique catwalk show which starts this Friday and runs up until the end of the weekend.

Fusing technology and fashion, The Show: Redefinition at the Bullring Centre is tech loving catwalk show using holographic models to show off eight gorgeous trends Autumn/Winter 2011.  The Show: Redefinition, is being bought to visitors of the Bullring Centre by Birmingham Live to celebrate the evolution of technology and fashion.

The technology behind this clever show is called Musion 3D technology which will create the illusion of a volumatic model on a holographic backdrop, whilst real life models also come out onto the catwalk.  As well as the excitement of using holographic  model we will also see ‘real life’ model Tiffany Pisani emerge to take part in the show.  Tiffany Pisani was Britain’s Next Top Model 2010 winner, is not only known for her gorgeous looks but the Maltese model was actually born in Wolverhampton so her appearing at the Birmingham’s Bullring Centre certainly shows her support for her Midlands roots.

The Show: Redefinition is taking inspiration from the AW11 catwalks and includes looks such as gothic-influenced Dark Romance and the elegant 40s flair.  These catwalks trends have been adopted by many popular highstreet retailers who will be featuring their autumn/winter fashion lines on the holographic runway.  Reiss, French Connection, Forever 21, COS, River Island and Kurt Geiger are amongst some of the retailers who will be taking part in the event.  Just as clothing is important, the make up and hair is just as key to a fashion show in which make up will be provided by The Body Shop and hair created by Regis at Debenhams in Bullring.

I will certainly try and make my way down to the show to capture this unique peice of history taking place and seeing whether we can see a future for this type of technology on the most sought after catwalks.  Could we see the likes of Burberry and Chanel using holographic models to showcase their hottest trends?  They will certainly bring about a change in which the fashion backstage operate as there will be no more wardrobe malfunctions or catwalk mishaps as technology will play its role in fixing this.  However if we do start to see this hitting the catwalks in the few years, will it spoil all the fun out fashion weeks and the human aspect of it?  Let’s watch this space shall we?

However for now you can also discover a wealth of behind-the-scenes features by visiting http://www.browsebullring.co.uk or the Facebook page, including a rundown on the key trends, blogs from the teams involved and news of other events taking place at Bullring during Style Birmingham Live.
