Angelina Jolie Named World’s Richest Actress
Angelina Jolie has been named world’s richest actress according to Forbes. She is worth $33 million, which is £21.5 million in the UK.
Angelina Jolie’s wealth can be partly attributed to her forthcoming film Malificent in which she plays the villainous character from the Disney Sleeping Beauty franchise. The film is due to be released in the 2nd of July 2014 in America.
Coming in second place is Jennifer Lawrence with earnings of $26 million, who was sky-rocketed to fame in The Hunger Games, a three part franchise, the second of which is due in cinemas soon. This is a huge contributor to her fortune, as is The Silver Linings Playbook, for which she won an Oscar (and famously tripped up the stairs receiving it).
Third place is awarded to Kristen Stewart with £22 million due to the Twilight series of films, and fourth place is Jennifer Anniston with $20 million who, whilst also starring in many a chick flick, still receives royalties from Friends.
In 2012 there were many contenders for the highest paid actors, and topping the list was Tom Cruise who, with earnings of $75 million due to the success of blockbuster film Mission Impossible, far outstrips other actor’s earnings.
In joint second place are Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Sandler with respective earnings of $37 million, still far ahead of Angelina as the top female.
Following in their wake is Dwayne Johnson with $36 million and Ben Stiller with $33 million. Sacha Baron Cohen is the first actor to come in under Angelina Jolie with earnings of $30 million.
