Markus Lupfer’s ‘Malaria No More’ Dress

Submitted by on Monday, 24 May 2010 | No Comment

Designer Markus Lupfer has designed a Malaria No More netted cocktail dress to raise awareness and highlight the need for mosquito nets in Africa.

The dress, which is available from today at ASOS.com comes in a gorgeous night-time navy colour and incorporates a black netting overlay that scrunches up into the shoulder area to give a sense of drama.

Speaking to Vogue.co.uk, Mark said: “I was inspired by Malaria No More UK’s mission and the simplicity of the project. We no longer have malaria here in Europe but in Africa the disease claims 2,000 lives every day and nets are a simple means to helping stop this. “As a fabric, netting is strong and surprisingly versatile and I am pleased to see the net finish works on this piece – a somewhat experimental take on a little black dress.”

Only 750 copies of the dress will be available to purchase, but the funds from the purchases will be invested into Namibia in South Africa.

You can buy it now at ASOS.com
