Street Style: Look Cool In Culottes Like Faye

So it looks like the weather has decided to sort itself out this week, which is great when you’re a Street Style photographer, as everyone seems to dress so nice when the sun is out! One thing I’ve noticed these past few days, is how popular shorts are and how many different variations are available. My personal favourites are culottes, as seen here on the lovely Faye.

Culottes are such a versatile twist on shorts, and can look really flattering when worn the right way. I love how they give the illusion of a skirt, yet are much more practical and comfortable. Faye wears hers with a romantic blouse tucked in, keeping her palette summery in pastels. I also like how she has gone for floaty fabrics to keep with the romantic trend. staying cool in the sun.

Faye wears a Topshop blouse, River Island floral culottes and gladiator sandals, and carries a cross body bag from New Look.

To recreate Faye’s look, go for culottes in a colourful floral print, and make sure they are fitted at the waist for a more flattering shape. Culottes are available in a variety of lengths. If you’re tall you’ll be able to pull off longer lengths, and if you’re shorter, then go for the shorter lengths. Faye’s are a medium length which is perfect for her height. Tuck in a romantic, floaty blouse in a pastel shade, and add a jersey cardigan in the same shade. Accessorise with a little cross body bag and some neutral gladiator sandals.

For a dressed up version of the look, suitable for evening wear when the weather gets colder (again!), swap the pastel colours for blacks and creams. Team darker culottes with a cream floaty blouse, and swap the cardigan for a structured boyfriend blazer. Add on opaque tights, platform heels and a statement clutch for a completely different look!

CuteCircuit Reveals the Cell Phone Little Black Dress

Hundreds of new mobile phones are popping up in stores everyday but fashion company CuteCircuit have devised one that is bound to get heads turning. The Little Black Dress that doubles as a mobile phone.

The M-Dress is a dark, richly textured, form-fitting silk jersey dress that you pop your sim-card into the label and it allows you to receive, and even make, phone calls directly from your dress.

It was designed after the company realised the huge number of calls that are missed whilst fishing around our bags for our phones when they are ringing.

Coming to stores in 2011 the garment and works via an antenna that is stitched into the hem at the bottom of the dress. It has ‘gesture recognition software’, which means that simple actions like lifting your hand to your head can answer an incoming call and dropping your arm ends it – let’s just hope the call isn’t too long as our arms might start to ache!

One of the restrictions this dress has is it can only dial a few pre-entered numbers, but you can set each contact with its own ringtone – making you a walking jukebox of sorts.

All we need now is one that can either SMS or we can Facebook on and the world really will be at our fingertips!

Lady Gaga’s Own Waxwork to be Unveiled in Many Cities

Following the latest waxwork model of Kim Kardashian, it looks like world-known singer, musician and fashionista Lady Gaga will be next. Hmm I wonder what mind-blowing outfit they will put her in? That’s a difficult job within itself as she has presented herself in so many.

In the week, Madame Tussauds announced that Gaga will have her double displayed in many cities, including New York, before the end of this year. But it seems waxwork organisers are looking for help from those that know Gaga best; her fans. Let’s face it, you do have a lot to work on from tight bodysuits to sky-high platforms, outrageous head-gear and lace material, so the professionals will have the final decision. I’m sure it will be a good one!

Autumn 2010 Trend: Maxi Skirts

Unfortunately it seems that autumn has come early this year; the cold and the rain has already set in. But in true fashion style, the celebs are refusing the lie down and take the weather as a reason to look anything else but as fabulous as ever.

This time it’s the turn of the maxi skirt. These beauties have been sneaking up in stores all summer and it looks like now they are finally getting the attention they deserve.

Maxi skirts are one of the most versatile items of the year and really can be dolled-up and dressed down to suit every body shape and every occasion. Girls Aloud member Nicola Roberts is testament to this fact; seen on tuesday at the launch of her make-up range Dainty Doll, it was Nicola’s outfit that sparked the conversation. A cute printed t-shirt coupled with a long flowing maxi skirts and an absolutely gorgeous pair of platforms left the popstar looking glam and someone to be taken seriously.

Vivienne Westwood Brings Her Work Catalogue to Selfridges

Fashion icon and idol to many, Vivienne Westwood has got shoe lovers everywhere excited over her latest project; an exhibition of her designs in department store Selfridges.

Taking inspiration from her decades long career, footwear in the form of creations since the start of her career to today will be available in over 200 styles. A girls dream right?

“Shoe design is one of the great things we’ve got left”, Vivienne told website StyleList, as she gave fans an insight into what feelings she holds about her shoe game.

The exhibition will be acting as an archive of her work for all to see, drool over and wish for. Styles will include the 1981 Pirate Boot, the Mary Jane six inch heel and the highly elevated Gillie platform shoe.

She continued, “…you know you break your ankle if people don’t design you a proper pair of shoes. They have to be done properly”.

And right she is. The large amounts of care and attention that go into shoe design is what makes Vivienne’s job so timeless and important to her. After all, we all need shoes right?

Street Style: Rock The Maxi Dress Like Brogan

Summer may already be drawing to a close, but don’t pack those maxi dresses away just yet! Even when there’s a bit of a chill in the air, a mxi dress can be styled up to keep off the cold. Brogan shows us how to cover up, but still look cool, just by adding a funky bleach denim jacket to her look. The maxi dress is set to be a big trend throughout Autumn and Winter, and is such an easy to wear, versatile item to own, so here I’ll show you some ways of wearing them when the weather goes a bit down hill!
To recreate Brogan’s look, you will need a full length maxi dress with a bold, geometric print, such as this striped number she has opted for. Add on a bleach denim jacket for warmth, and team with some open toe sandals or flip flops. Accessorise with a big slouchy tan bag and keep jewellery to a minimum for an easy, casual every day look.

For colder days, go for a maxi with longer sleeves, like this Topshop one. Throw on a chunky knit cardigan for an extra layer, and team with brogues and tights for a twist. Add a vintage style silk scarf for interest in Autumnal colours, and you should be well wrapped up for the English weather!

Looks like Cheryl Cole isn’t the only member of pop group sensation, Girls Aloud making a name for herself outside of the group.

Becoming increasingly known for the style risks she is taking with fashion, Nicola is captured wearing the most daring of outfits, particularly ones that compliment her fair complexion.

Blogger Style: Jen From ‘A Little Bird Told Me’

Here is the start of a new feature at Style Clone, in which we will be showcasing some our favourite Fashion Bloggers and their style. Not only is there great fashion on our streets, but there is also a huge amount of style on the pages of our daily reads, so why not show you those aswell!?

I’m kicking things off this week with the gorgeous Jen from ‘A Little Bird Told Me‘ which is a personal favourite read of mine. Jen’s blog is full of lovely outfits featuring everything from vintage finds, high street steals and some lovely accessories, as well as lots of other fabulous fashion posts. Definitely worth a read if you like a laid back approach to fashion with some lovely tips along the way.

I chose this look that Jen recently posted on her blog here. I love the simplicity of the outfit, and how it has been pulled together with tan accessories. Such a chic daytime look and perfect for workwear for Jen.

To recreate Jen’s look you will need a simple grey tee and a navy high waisted skirt. Jen’s version is actually a dress, but it can be easily adapted in this way. Accessorise these with a thin tan brown waist belt around the skirt, and pop on some summery tan wedges for added height. Opt for simplistic gold jewellery to finish the outfit off, and away you go!

Justin Timberlake’s Secret Love For Android!

If you know your stars and their gadgets then you’ll be well aware that Justin Timberlake has always been an and out and proud Blackberry user, but new information has surfaced showing there is a new gadget mistress in his midst!

Engadget are reporting that Justin has been updating his Twitter not by his Blackberry, but by Twitter for Andriod! Photos were then discovered of him using what looks like an Xperia X10.

It also seems someone has had a celebrity upgrade, Twitter for Android currently only runs on devices with OS 2.1 and above. The X10’s current running version is 1.6, so it seems someone has had some perks. It could even be that Justin, a known Sony Spokesperson may have been given an Eclair device also.
