Beyoncé and Tina Knowles make their London Fashion Week debut
London Fashion Week is one of the most important weeks in the fashion industry’s calendar and to be there is to be a part of something truly spectacular. This year was just as important for expectant mother Beyoncé as she debuted her hotly anticipated House of Deréon collection for the first time, inside a decorated car park within London’s Selfridge’s department store.
The global themed collection exudes exotic fabrics, glamorous shapes and tons of tribal prints which have Beyoncé’s unique sense of style written all over them. The collection also included feather head-dresses, flamenco inspired dresses, embellished turbans and gold face paint. Models strutted down the catwalk to the singer’s own ‘Run The World (Girls)’ single and celebs such as Ellie Goulding and Rosario Dawson littered the front row.
Talking about the prestigious collection, Beyoncé’s mum Tina said in a statement: “Beyoncé gets to travel all around the world and bring back beautiful fashions and trends. And she tells us what’s going on, what’s new, and what’s just around the corner. We depend on her a lot — we raid her closet!”
Unable to contain her excitement about the new collection and it’s launch in Selfridges, Beyoncé then added: “The women here are so stylish and beautiful. They’re a little more experimental [with fashion].”
