You would think that been that being the esteemed wedding dress designer for model royalty, Kate Moss, that John Galliano’s popularity may have risen.

However, it would appear that the scorned designer who was dismissed by Dior after her made anti-Semitic remarks to a couple in February, has been forgiven. Dior the brand, who were quick to fire Galliano, are bearing the brunt of the scandal as they have seen a drop in their fragrance sales since the reported incident.

The company issued a report which states that fragrance sales have declined since Galliano’s alleged anti-Semitic remarks came to public light in February this year. The reason being is many retailers pulled the label’s products off their shelves after hearing about this which has fuelled the downturn in sales.

They have also decided to delay the launch of Galliono’s latest fragrance, Parlez-Moi d’Amour, which was scheduled to be released this Spring but Brigitte Wormser, Perfume Holding vice president of creation and marketing development, said “We held off launching in the U.S. because of the problems, and are reviewing our strategy for that market”.

Although it seems a little unfair that Dior is feeling the downturn of sales as a direct result of Galliano’s action, especially as they took action to dismiss him, however only time will tell whether Dior’s perfume sales will be able to recoup after this. Also, with Galliano rumoured to be designing Kate Moss’s dress whether this will help him place a foothold back into the fashion limelight…obviously this time for the right reasons!
