To celebrate the end of another fashionable year, Style Clone looks back at the best bits of 2010. We’ve had some amazing trends this year and some gorgeous must have pieces. Here are some of our favourites!

MAXI DRESSES

By far the biggest item for Spring/Summer was the floor sweeping maxi dress. The ultimate in elegance, these dresses hit the big time this year, and even took us through to winter teamed with boots and chunky knits. Plain or printed, these were a must have.

WEDGES

The It-Shoes of the year were most definitely wedges. Whether it be summer strappy numbers or lace up boots, they were around throughout the four seasons. On all the catwalks and all over the glossy magazines, wedges were huge!

TAPESTRY

If you carried one thing on your arm this year, it had to be the tapestry bag. Oozing vintage chic, the tapestry bags were a huge trend and are still going strong. Whether it was an original vintage piece or a high street find, these were key for Autumn/Winter with their autumnal colouring and leafy patterns.

JUMPSUITS

Another piece big for Spring/Summer 2010 was the jumpsuit. Playsuits, move aside! This year was all about the longer leg length. Think floaty, high fashion shapes and bold prints. Best worn with statement heels and tribal jewellery, these were perfect for those summer evening occasions.

STATEMENT RINGS

Jewellery was all about making a statement this year, be it necklaces, bracelets or hairpieces, but the but if you had to have one, it was the statement ring. The bigger the better, these came in every design thinkable, from animals and skulls to bold colourful gems and vintage inspired pieces. Best worn stacked in numbers. More is more!

CAMEL COATS

Finally, this winter saw the arrival of camel. Camel was easily the hottest colour of the year, but the key item to own in this colour was a coat, whether it was a duffle, a cape or a mac, this was a must have for the colder weather. A chic shade that went with almost anything and added a ladylike twist to any outfit – perfect!
