Feiyues: The New Converse?

Submitted by on Wednesday, 15 April 2009 | No Comment

feiyueConverse was originally a US brand making basketball shoes. Haviana flip flops hail from Brazil and were once considered a poor man’s flip flop.

Are Feiyues going to be the next big international shoe phenomenon? A Chinese brand of canvas lace-up, originally designed for martial arts purposes because of their comfort and flexibility; Feiyue directly translated into English means a flying leap or even flying forward. Bought in China in the right places, the original shoe costs around £3!

A few years back a French company invested in Feiyue, extending the brand with more lines and making the shoe more friendly to the western market. This company currently sells Feiyues starting from 50 euros but with the shoe having been featured in French Elle a number of times and with Orlando Bloom being sighted wearing them;  it may well be a brand worth investing in.

Alternatively, if you are lucky enough to have a friend going to China, get them to extend their weight restriction and bring you back a pair or three!

Feiyues are so versatile they can be paired with basically anything depending on your style.

They look particularly good with skinny jeans- why not try pairing them with this season’s it jeans- the acid, bleach wash.

With summer approaching, a pair of shorts will go perfectly with Feiyues.

Whatever your style preference, Feiyues will match with pretty much anything your Converse go with. With China’s export market going from strength to strength, is it only a matter of time before Office shoes does a deal with Feiyue?
