1 If all Christmas trees were to look like the latest creation by John Galliano, it would make Christmas the most designer season of the entire year.

London’s iconic Mayfair establishment, Claridges, has gone all out on the decorations this year by asking none other than John Galliano for Dior, to design their Christmas tree.

Claridge’s say that the Christmas tree “evokes a frozen twist on tradition with a tropical tree complete with snow leopard, dragon flies and parrots, echoing Claridge’s Art deco surroundings.”

Talking about the inspiration behind the Christmas tree, John Galliano commented: “I want to combine the festive with the innovative, the spirit of Dior with the beauty of Claridge’s, and create something spectacular that will inspire the perfect start to the season!”

This is the first time that Claridge’s has worked with a fashion designer on it’s traditional Christmas tree and it has certainly bought some attention to the London hotspot having been featured in many newspapers and websites across the country.

3 The tree adds tons of glamour and theatricality to Claridge’s as it towers over it’s visitors in the lobby. Its use of tropical and wild animals means that it isn’t necessarily traditional, but we don’t mind a bit as it makes a nice change from limp bits of tinsel and twinkling fairy lights.

The tree will be on display at Claridge’s until Twelfth night.
