Agent Provocateur Suing Made In Chelsea’s Kimberley Garner
The cast member of Made In Chelsea, Kimberley Garner is being sued by Agent Provocateur for allegedly copying one of their best-selling bikinis.
The Mazzy bikini flies off the brand’s shelves but it seems that Agent Provocateur aren’t happy with Kimberley’s similar design. Kimberley Garner created her own swimwear label, Kimberly London and one of the bikinis featured is a bikini with bandage-style straps. It is seen modelled on her and looks very similar to Agent Provocateur’s, although Kimberly’s is in black.
“We invest significantly in product design and development and the Mazzy is our best-selling swimwear design,” said Garry Hogarth, CEO of Agent Provocateur. “We have brought this action to protect our intellectual property, our designers and our business.”
For the 22-year-old, her business is at stake as she claims she’s been finding the legal proceedings difficult to manage.
“I set up this company and I’m 23 and I’ve put all my savings into making this a success. [The suit from Agent Provocateur] has been hard,’ Garner told Metro, confirming that she will defend her design in court.
It is possible that Kimberley wasn’t even aware of Agent Provocateur’s bikini and designed something coincidentally similiar. However, because Kimberley is going up against a huge brand and will have to prove that she didnt’t try and emulate the same bikini in any way, she may find it hard to defend herself properly. It doesn’t help that the Mazzy bikini is the brand’s best-selling swimwear piece either.
The verdict on the lawsuit is yet to come so we’ll have to see if Kimberley really did copy the design. Tough times!
Made In Chelsea Stars Who Aren’t Facing Lawsuits
Well, although Kimberley London is facing a bit of a tough time right now, it seems that some of Kimberley’s fellow cast memebers of the reality show, Made In Chelsea are doing very well for themselves.
Millie Mackintosh also features in the show and is a professional makeup artist. Her eyelash line, Millie Mackintosh for Nouveau is doing very well and consists of 8 different styles named after various London areas. For instance, the Mayfair lashes are dramatic and bold, whilst the Belgravia lashes are more natural. I love the idea!
Jamie Laing’s “fashionable confectionery brand that is truly young at heart”, Candy Kittens, is also a great business venture for him. The adorable and flirtatious cast member has expanded his business to include clothing, accessories, luggage, stationary as well as sweets.
