Kanye West Launches Denim Collection French Brand A.P.C
Kanye West is to launch a capsule men’s collection with French brand A.P.C
A tantalising glimpse into Kanye West’s clothing range had been revealed: a label in the back of a pair of jeans. Hmm, not much to go on, but he is supposedly launching a ‘sensible’ collection featuring a capsule collection of just one pair of jeans, a hoody and a t-shirt.
A.P.C, fashionable French brand, used Twitter to tell their followers of the collaboration. Jean Touitou, brand founder and friend of Kanye, spoke of how the pair came to design together:
“Over two years ago, a visitor to the A.P.C. studio was announced to me as “Kenny.” He wanted my advice on the fashion industry; although I found such a request quite vague, as a mutual friend introduced us, I met with the guy. At some point my crew informed me that his name was West, Kanye West. I introduced him to the A.P.C. design studio, and he kept asking how he could start something in that fashion industry. This is when we all advised him to start that something in France, and keep quiet about fashion noise while learning about it. Over the months, we kept hanging out and finally came up with the idea of doing a small capsule collection of clothes together. “Small” meaning that this capsule collection consists of a jean, a hoodie and a T-shirt. Those are precious to me and to Kanye too, because it took time and thoughts to get there.”
Maybe he’s turning a new sensible corner now that he’s become a daddy.
The collection will be available from the 14th of July, and knowing Kanye, he probably has a very different definition of sensible to rest of us (seeing as he compared himself to God). So certainly don’t expect a run of the mill collection.
This collaboration follows the Kardashian’s foray into the high street, when they recently worked on a range with Dorothy Perkins. The three sisters: Khloe, Kourtney and Kim, created a look which fused their signature styles, drawing mainly on monochrome, faux leather, structured shapes, studded bags and skyscraper heels. A very glamorous and sophisticated collection, perfect for cocktail nights.
It seems that Kanye and Kim make quite the designing duo, so now we just have to keep an eye out for how they dress their inevitably already stylish, little baby girl.
