Are Fred Perry set to release Amy Winehouse’s remaining collections early?
Last year, it was announced that singer Amy Winehouse had teamed up with iconic fashion label Fred Perry to produce a new clothing range which portrayed the singers own style and personality. In a recent interview with Harpers Bazaar magazine, Amy revealed that she had a further three collections completed with the brand that were to be showcased this Autumn/Winter 2011/12, but after the tragic death of the singer, it is thought that the release of the collections will be brought forward in memory of Amy.
Jazz singer Amy, who led a troubled life full of drink and drugs passed away on July 23rd in her home in North London. The singer was said to be trying to get clean from the drink and drugs and had even visited the doctors surgery the day before her death where she was given a clean bill of health. It is thought that she then went home and spent time singing and playing the drums into the early hours of Saturday 23rd July. She was found dead by her bouncer later on Saturday afternoon but the cause of her death is yet to be determined.
Since her death, Fred Perry have seen a surge in sales for the pieces designed by Amy and her fans are now calling for the company to release the new ranges early. Fred Perry are reluctant to do so out of respect for Amy’s family, saying that “Everything is on hold until we speak with Amy’s family and management.”
We’re sure that Amy’s family will want her fans to have the collections available to them ahead of time but in these difficult times, it is understandable that Fred Perry are holding back. If the collections aren’t released until the previously planned Autumn/Winter 2011/12 date, it will still be a special occasion for Amy’s fans as they will be able to get their hands on the last of Amy’s work and will be able to keep a piece of her with them. We’re sure the collection is set to be a huge hit as Amy’s own personal style was extremely interesting and quirky and we can’t wait to get our hands on it!
