Rumours have been flying surrounding Kate Middleton’s wedding dress designer ever since Kate and William announced their engagement last year. A whole host of designer names have been ‘revealed,’ including Alexander McQueen, Temperley, Conran and even Kate Middleton herself, but the most recent rumour to evolve is designer Sophie Cranston of the Libélula label.

The Huffington Post was the website to reveal the good news and claimed that Sophie Cranston had won the commission to design the Royal wedding dress.

According to the site, Cranston was hire months ago but was sworn to secrecy by Buckingham Palace so the designer could get on with the dress in peace, away from paparazzi and prying eyes. Cranston has apparently designed two dresses for the occasion in the event of something happening to the first dress.

Kate Middleton was spotted back in January wearing a Black Velvet coat, named ‘The Dulwich’ with a diamanté clasp by Sophie Cranston and the Libélula label.

Back in 1999, Cranston won the Designer of the Year Award at London’s Graduate Fashion and has already worked for Alexander McQueen creative director, Sarah Burton. A whole host of celebrities have been spotted wearing the Libélula label’s products including Harry Potter Actress Emma Watson and even Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa.
