Open plan living is the new ‘in’ thing when it comes to interiors! Â People want space and getting rid of walls gives that illusion of space. Â Obviously it is isn’t for everyone and for those of you that your privacy, this is definitely not one for you.
However, if you’re looking for inspiration we decided to visit the Ideal Home Show 2011, to get some ideas.  Whilst we were there, there was one area which caught our attention.  With large queues of people, the main focus of attention was their 3 show homes, one of them being the bright open plan eco home built by Swedish house experts Jorntrahusand designed by stylist Maggie Colvin.

Creating Alcoves in Your Open Plan Living Space
Try to create alcoves when you’re planning your home. Â This gives you the option to get away and into a more quieter area of the home. Â An alcove under the stairs would be the ideal spot for a desk – tucked away – with the separate function and role of studying, or computer work, confined to a specific area.
