Alice in Wonderland Shoes by Nicolas Kirkwood

You will have been hard pushed to have failed to notice the huge number of Disney inspired clothes and accessories all over the high street over the last few weeks. Even Stella McCartney has caught cartoon fever with her jewellery line she has designed for Disney, which has been inspired by the classic tales, including Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

Accessories are one thing but shoe creator Nicholas Kirkwood has gone one step further and designed some of the most elaborate Disney influenced fashion to date; the Alice in Wonderland Shoes.

Since the collaboration of Tim Burton and the release of the the new film, the world seems to have gone Alice in Wonderland crazy. These shoes were designed for Paris based department store Printemps and were part of a project that also included work from the likes of Christopher Kane, Maison Martin Margiela and the late Alexander McQueen.

Kirkwood had this to say to VOGUE magazine about his innovative creation; ‘ I am very happy to be involved in this project as I love Alice In Wonderland. My interpretation for Alice is all about fantasy and fun through escapism.’

There’s no denying that these shoes have encapsulated Alice in Wonderland down to a ‘T’, but buying them means we would have to buy a whole new outfit just to go with them. Oh dear! Nevermind, I for one am all for falling down a rabbit hole if these shoes are at the bottom!
