Milan Fashion Week: Homeless chic?

The best of the best within the fashion industry flocked to Milan this week for the Men’s Fashion Week.
As the fashion shows kicked off, one show in particular stood out. Vivienne Westwood stunned the press and the show’s audience with her ‘homeless chic’ collection.

The catwalk, which was littered with cardboard boxes, saw male models pushing shopping trolleys and carrying sleeping bags to try and emulate the homeless ‘style’ to accompany their outfits. Most of the outfits included items that would keep the ‘homeless’ person warm on those cold days and nights – perfect for winter! Hoodies, tshirts and surprisingly; fur coats, also made an appearance on the runway.

Vivienne’s inspiration for the collection came from her husband’s friend who works for a homeless charity. Also trying to broach the subject of recycling, one male model sported an orange jumpsuit while another wore a jumper as a pair of trousers. Talking about this weird and wonderful subject, Vivienne said: “I’m saying to people as well, buy less clothes. Only buy things when you really need them and really like them. Wear them and wear them.”
