Top Fashion Trends for 2010

A new year means a whole truck-load full of trends; luckily for you, we’ve got your 2010 wardrobe sorted as we’ve identified the 5 trends that you really should be investing in this year! The following trends look good on girls (and boys!) of every shape and colour and are easily adapted into your existing wardrobe. As well as all that, they’ll make sure that your wardrobe is hotter than anyone else this year!

1. Leather

Not just for accessories or jackets! We’re talking dresses, pencil skirts and leggings! The good news is that it really isn’t as uncomfortable or unflattering as it sounds. Just check out this sexy leather bandeau dress from Oasis, £80 (Was £120).

2. Knitwear

Sonia Rykiel has been branded the ‘Queen of Knits’ and judging from pieces such as elegant and simple cardigan for £230, it’s not hard to see why:

Following the success of Rykiel’s lingerie collection for H&M, the ‘Queen of Knits’ is to release another collection in Spring 2010, this time comprising of a knitwear collection. As cosy knits will be popular throughout the year, this collection is one to keep an eye out for!

3.  Pastel colours

Soft, ice-creamy shades of lavender, rose, mint and blue will be everywhere this spring, as opposed to the black and aubergine colours that dominated what seemed like most of 2009. Though this trend will be at its hottest in Spring, you can stay ahead in the fashion stakes by painting your nails a pretty pastel shade. Essie’s Mint Candy Apple for £8.95 should tide you over ‘til Spring!

4. Bright Pink

For girls out there who like their colours a bit bolder, don’t worry- we predict a lot of bright pink being around this year too! This Valentino clutch for £470 from net-a-porter is an easy way to add a glamorous pop of colour to your outfit:

5. Baggy trousers

Not as extreme as the baggy-crotched harem pants of 2009…while the silhouette of skinny fitting bottoms with floaty tops will still be popular, slouchy trousers paired with a fitted top present a chic alternative. These trousers from Preen are a great example for £413

Thanks for this article! You have no idea how much you’ve helped me:) I’m normally quite “fashion challenged” but this article was my saviour. You’ve saved me a lot of time (and money!) as I’ve just bought the Oasis dress and I love it!

Also thank you for the heads up to the fashion trends for 2010 and I’m sure I’ll be quite trendy with your brilliant tips! Keep up the good work and I can’t wait to read more of your articles!
