Ellen DeGeneres will host the Oscars for a second time since she last hosted in 2007.

The producers, Craig Zadn and Neil Meron, are long time friends of Ellen DeGeneres, and were happy to have her on board.

“There are few stars today who have Ellen’s gift for comedy, with her great warmth and humanity,” the producers said in a statement. “She is beloved everywhere and we expect that the audience at the Dolby Theatre, and in homes around the globe, will be as excited by this news as we are.”

55 year old DeGeneres hosts a daytime talk show, for which she has won 45 Emmy awards over 10 seasons, and seemed excited about the prospect of hosting the prestigious awards ceremony.

“I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time,” she said. “You know what they say – the third time’s the charm.”

Last year Seth MacFarlane hosted and caused controversy with arguably borderline sexist jokes, but also proved to be very funny.
