Heard the news? Kate Middleton is pregnant! Will it be a boy or girl? Who will the baby look like?

Hearing news of Kate’s pregnancy certainly brings back fond memories of when I was pregnant with my gorgeous daughter Sara. Apart from the morning sickness, one of dilemma’s I faced was what to wear as my bump grew bigger. I was quite fortunate as being quite petite I put very little weight on elsewhere apart from the bump which towards the ends of my pregnancy my bump looked like a giant watermelon!

I am pretty sure that Kate is already out shopping and also taking a look at her current wardrobe to see which clothes will be comfortable and appropriate to wear whilst she is pregnant. The good thing for most women is that you can wear whatever you want and use pregnancy as an excuse if it doesn’t look right, however as Kate will be in the limelight for much of her pregnancy she is going to have to look good.

So with my style hat on and Kate Middleton in mind I have picked out some items which is likely to be found in Kate Middleton’s wardrobe as we speak…

1. The Dress

Kate loves her dresses and showing of her gorgeous long legs, so it is likely that she is going to stick to the same style throughout her pregnancy but maybe go for dresses which are more flattering and comfortable on the bump rather than her usual figure hugging dress. With Reiss being one of her favourite stores, we have picked this Melissa Aubergine Draped Cut Out Back Dress for £159. Apart from the colour which looks great on her skin tone, this floaty dress is comfortable and also will compliment the bump. The cut out detail at the back is also great as even pregnant mums can feel sexy…

2. The Footwear

Kate is already sensible when it comes to her footwear and rarely see her wearing very high heels so her transition to pregnancy mum to be will be a lot easier. Very high heels in pregnancy are known to be the cause of back pain and not to mention clumsy situations when you can barely see your toe, let alone the floor you’re walking on so sensible footwear is a must. As Kate is well known for recycling I can see her recycling some of her current shoes during her pregnancy.

These Sally Scalloped Edge Suede Ballerina Flat for are great to wear with dresses and jeans. Kate has often been spotted wearing similar ones on her more casual days and these will certainly come in handy.

Kate will also spend some parts of her pregnancy in the winter months so it is a good idea to invest in some boots. Flat riding boots are one of Kate’s favourites too. These Sarah Leather Knee High Riding Boot are a great addition to every wardrobe. They are perfect with dresses and also also jeans.

3. The Coat

Kate loves her coats and especially with the cold winter months ahead we can expect snow and chilly weather. Although she would love to hibernate in the cold, I don’t think this is going to happen as she has a busy social calender so it is essential to keep that bump warm. We love this Two Tone Wrap Coat from Warehouse for £95. Although Kate is used to her buttoned up coats, she may need to invest in a more versatile coat which can adjust as her bump gets bigger. Wrap around coats are great as they elegantly show off your bump but then allow belt to be adjusted as you get bigger around the waist.

Will our maternity essential wear items be right? We will find out in the next few months as Kate is spotted with her bump more and more in public…
