Summer 2011 Trend: Palazzo Pants for Home & Work – Get the Look!

Skinny jeans have been around for ages now and although I love my endless pairs, sometimes you want to be able to add a bit of air to your legs. With summer here your other options could include skirts and dresses, however what if you’re not ready to bare those pasty unkept legs? Then take a leaf out of the Spring catwalks by Joseph, Fendi and Dolce and Gabanna as they were full of this seasons must have staple wardrobe item, the Palazzo Pant or Trousers. These wide legged, almost skirt-like trousers are super flattering and feel amazingly luxurious.

However some people can often think Palazzo pants can look like you’ve just stepped out of bed.  At the moment there are quite a few patterned and floral jersey palazzo pants on the market, however I would steer clear of these for work and stick to them for the casual look.  So here’s how to wear them…

Get the Look…

1. Reiss Shirt $172
2. French Connection Palazzo Pants $130
3. Nordstorm Sunglasses $130
4. Reiss Blazer $262
5. Farfetch Ring $400
6. Mui Mui Shoes $595
7. Yoox Handbag $92

For Work: Think of a pleated or the plain alternative and dress you pants up with some colour.  Team it up with a funky shirt.  We like this animal print one and some sexy heels.  To add an additional smartness to the look  add a blazer and a stylish handbag.

Get the Look…

1. Topshop Top $45
2. Topshop Pants $90
3. Linda Farrow Sunglasses $425
4. Farfetch Belt $275
5. Federich Salvatori Earrings $129
6. Allsaints Wedges $225
7. Forever21 Handbag $23

For Home: You can start getting a lot more creative with the pants as there are plenty of floral and flirty prints out there.  For the summer soft chiffon fabrics are key and much more flattering then jersey.  So you don’t end up looking like Freddy the Clown team the floral pants up with a plain crop top – I chose this gorgeous brown pleated one.   To finish off the look and bring you into the 60’s bag yourself some wedges and dress it up with some funky accessories…
