The biggest style icons in the world were in attendance at the Costume Institute Gala that took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York earlier this month. The likes of Alexa Chung, Jessica Alba and Lea Michele were all in attendance to help celebrate the new Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition.

Socialite Nicole Richie turned up to the event in a gorgeous white 1930s bias cut gown but it was the dress that model Britt Maren was wearing that caused a stir.

The stunning gold velvet Winter Kate dress was designed by Nicole Richie herself and she is now auctioning it off for charity on popular auction website eBay.

The dress, which is rumoured to be inspired by Alexander McQueen is being auctioned for Nicole Richie and Joel Madden’s personal charity The RichieMadden Foundation and bids have started at $500. The auction will end on May 22nd at 9pm so place your bids now.
