Autumn Beauty Trends for 2013

Make 2013 your most fashionable autumn yet with our top beauty trends to see you through the chillier season.

As the summer evenings are already beginning to darken, it’s time to look forward to the upcoming autumn and all the trends in brings along with it. Gone are the pastels and corals and streaky fake tan disasters, replaced instead with forgiving darker tones, thick tights and ankle boots for crunching through the fallen leaves. With StyleClone’s top tips on achieving those autumnal beauty looks, you’ll be ready and waiting for the change of season.

Bold Brows

This trend that has emerged this summer thanks to model Cara Delevigne is going nowhere, so hide away your tweezers and get grooming. Invest in a decent eyebrow pencil and make sure you test the shade before you buy. Different colour pencil coloured over your hairs WILL get noticed, so buy after you’ve tried. Keep those brows well groomed and not bushy; comb a little gel through them if they’re unruly, or even Vaseline. The main thing though is no over-plucking. As least that’s a little less eye-watering in our beauty regimes!

Red Lipstick

Red lipstick looks amazing with the autumnal tones that will be making a comeback – deep colours and brown shades – and is a beauty failsafe. Make sure you have tested shades of red with your skin tone, as although everyone can find a red to suit them, not every red will suit your skin tone. You don’t want to look like a child whose found her mother’s make up box, so practice your liner and lippy skills to avoid the joker look. Make sure you use a full kit of liner and lipstick with a lip brush. I always get compliments on the Rimmel 01 Red Shade.

Smokey Eyes

Moody, intense eye-make up is making a comeback. Work out what shades work best for your eye-colour and be bold. Blend lighter shades into darker for a sculpting effect instead of using just one block colour, which will just make you look like a panda. Make sure you use a highlighting concealer under the eye with this look: you want bold and dramatic, not dark shadows and tired. You’ll want a decent eye shadow palette to pull this off, with a smudge of kohl liner for a dramatic effect.

Rose Coloured Blush

As our tans begin to fade, fake a dewy complexion with a little pink blush on the apples of your cheeks in place of that bronzer. Autumn brings with it a more subtle look, so find a pink that stands out on your skin tone but doesn’t look clownish, and apply it on the apples of your cheeks (the bits that stand out when you do a big grin) for a bit of natural looking feminine colour.

Berry Lip Stain

This is one of my favourite beauty looks for autumn. Ditch those neons and corals you’ve been wearing in the sunshine and go for a deep berry in a matte lipstick or lip stain for a truly punchy make-up look. Keep the rest of your make-up simple when you wear this bold look and let your lips do the talking (literally, I suppose). Wear with a dewy complexion, some mascara and perhaps a feline flick of liquid eye liner and your look is all set.
