Banana Republic are collaborating with one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite brands, Issa, to create a replica of the dress she wore to announce her royal engagement to Prince William.

Brace yourself against the tide of ladies anxious to get themselves a slice of the Kate Middleton look. The Duchess is famed for her devoted fashion following, with many high street outfits she wears selling out in days once she is photographed in them, meaning that surely the high street version of the designer dress will hardly touch the shelves.

She has the magic touch that perhaps only a Princess can possess.

With the world already rimming with Will and Kate fever since the birth of their son, the timing of this collaboration could hardly be better.

Banana Republic are one of Kate’s frequented high street stores, and the replica Kate/Issa dress will be available from the 8th of August.

Made from jersey as opposed to the 100% silk Issa version, the Banana Republic dress has been dubbed the ‘daytime’ version. However, it does cost a far more reasonable £65, when the Issa dress was £565. The dress also comes in a sleeveless style as well as in plum for a variation on the look.

The collaborative capsule collection features other clothing items as well as accessories and handbags in the theme of safari heritage.

As always the proof of Kate Middleton’s popularity and influence on the nation is glaringly obvious. After her appearance outside the hospital to present her newborn baby, the Jenny Packham dress she wore as well as the blanket wrapped around Prince George have subsequently sold out.

As has been proved time and time again, if Kate wears it, it will sell. It seems the nation has taken the Duchess in their hearts and it doesn’t look like she’ll be leaving any time soon.
