A frenzied excitement was in the air on Friday as London Fashion Week kicked off, and shows from Orla Kiely, Sass & Bide and Paul Costelloe were the talk of the day. Constant updates from fashion gurus on Twitter and live streaming meant that even those that weren’t there, were able to experience the best of LFW.

Paul Costelloe launched his Autumn/Winter 2011 collection with the help of his 24 year old daughter Jessica who took to the runway in a red Harris tweed coat to match her equally bright hair. She set the tone for the rest of the show which included a completely wearable collection of skirts, dresses and coats in coloured metallics, plaid, tweed and herringbone.

Mini dresses and skater skirts with brogue patent heels make for completely wearable pieces and the bright colour popping jackets and coats will give us all some oomph in the dark winter days. Swirling patterns, bold flower prints and autumnal shades mixed with the various tweeds and plaid give the collection a quirky English twist.
