The poster that sold millions; Farrah Fawcett

Who could ever forget Farrah Fawcett?  The 62 year old iconic model, actress, friend and much loved family woman became a household name after her famous role in the original Charlie’s Angels.

Admirers of the smiley blonde will also remember her for the memorable 1976 poster where she was featured in a red swimsuit; the swimsuit that is to be donated to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. to join their pop culture history collection.

Farrah’s long term life partner Ryan O’Neal, has generously given the swimsuit and other items including some Farrah originals to the museums memorabilia collection.

The original swimsuit poster, a 1977 original Farrah Fawcett doll and a swimsuit jigsaw puzzle are just a few of the pieces that will be seen alongside Dorothy’s red slippers from The Wizard of Oz and everybody’s favourite frog, Kermit.

A generous donation in memory of a lady with a huge heart who sadly lost her battle with cancer in June 2009.  I’m sure just like the poster, her exhibition will draw in millions.
