new-sports-leisure-department-at-debenhamsSports & leisurewear  will be hitting 41 Debenhams stores and their online shop as of the 26th of July. It will cover men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, accessories, footwear and equipment for sports, leisure, surf, yoga and other outdoor activities. It will stock over 40 big brand names such as; Nike, Adidas, Puma, Reebok, Speedo, Berghaus and O’Neill, sitting alongside the newly introduced Rocha Sonas by John Rocha, designed exclusively for Debenhams.

Rocha Sonas by John Rocha adds a designer element to performance wear for women. Inspired by yoga and pilates, the longer-length peached cotton range in soft marl colours, makes for ‘easy movement’ in exercise or relaxation.

“We designed the Sport & Leisure division to give customers an alternative to the sometimes intimidating, male-dominated sports stores currently available on the High Street“, said Michael Sharp, Debenhams Deputy Chief Executive.

Sharp adds, “Our research found a distinct gap in the sports market. With many shoppers not necessarily purchasing sports clothing for exercise but instead choosing to relax in at home. In comparison to the high performance bias of major sports retailers, Debenhams Sport & Leisure caters to both aspiring athletes and the sporting fashionista.

“As the ‘one stop shop’ for sports and leisure, we have all the big brands and Designers at the great value customers have come to expect from Debenhams”.

To help the fitness strategy along the store is offering free fitness advice and also a personal trainer session for anyone who spends £40 or more on the products plus access to a range of free sport and leisure activities in their local area.
