Gossip Girl star Blake Lively has been confirmed as the new face of the Mademoiselle handbag by Chanel.

The budding actress has become as well known for her fashion and style as she is for her success on the hit American TV show. She has previously been spotted in a number of Chanel gowns for various red carpet events and has been a big fan of the classic Chanel quilted handbag for years.

Lively will become the star of the Mademoiselle advertising campaign which has been designed by Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld. Commenting on his choice of starlet for the campaign, Lagerfeld said: “She’s a kind of American dream girl. I think she will become a great actress.”

Lively joins a whole host of fashionistas who have previously appeared in Chanel advertising campaigns, such as the gorgeous Keira Knightley, Vanessa Paradis, Audrey Tautou and Georgia May Jagger. Talking about landing her dream job in the campaign, Lively said: “A dream come true is an understatement. I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around.”
