Do National Baking Week In Style!

So this week is national baking week, and while you may think that style doesn’t come into baking, you are very, very wrong. There are some very stylish issues to consider here, what to wear? what to use? and how to display it? All of which can be done is a surprising stylish and gorgeous way.

So let’s start with what to wear. There is the apron of course, you want to protect your clothes from flour marks and batter splash-backs. You can go for the full apron or maybe a cute little waist apron to get the job done. I recommend this pretty one form Aprons Online for £26.95. With a cute vintage cherry pattern you’ll find it easy to summon the energy to whip up an old school Victoria sponge cake.

Now there’s your hair, there’s nothing worse than stray hairs when cooking to push it all out of the way 50s style.  Try this red gingham head band to keep your hair away and keep you feeling kitsch. Pick it up for only £2.39 from Scarf World.

Throw out your old metal whisk and invest in a good table top mixer so you can be a bit posh and let the machine do the work for you! Gone are the days where you need to spend 20 minutes hand whisking egg whites, with this Kitchenaid mixer you’ll find it a breeze. Coming in most colours you could think of we recommend either the candy apple red as it reminds us of toffee apples, or this boysenberry (featured) which is much better than the boring chrome you see all the time.  £369 from Wheesh.

Now of course we need something to showcase our baking week treats! Next have a great cupcake range in store at the moment and the pick of the bunch has to be this ‘I Love Cupcakes’ 2 tier porcelain stand.  For only £12 it’s a steal and has a lovely retro Grandma’s kitchen feel. Show off your best cookies, bars and of course cupcakes proudly!

So now you have some ideas you will hopefully feel inspired to whip up something beautiful and tasty, you could surprise your friends and even yourself!
