Steal Their Style: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, looked amazing at a recent press event together for their fashion venture Bik Bok. Steal either of the twins style with our high street finds.

The twins have long been considered style icons, dressing to impress at many events and complimenting each others slightly quirky, slightly gothic, slightly bohemian style. And who wouldn’t kill for their perfectly tousled centre-parted tresses? In fact, Ashley Olsen has made it onto the board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, an invitation only honour for 400 American based or born designers. However, there was no mention of Mary-Kate, who designs for the same labels as Ashley (The Row and Elizabeth & James).

The girls are queens of understated cool, working the androgynous look in masculine tailoring paired with feminine details such as the heels, jewellery and long blonde locks. They have their signature style down to a tee and always look great together. They have kept their tones similar in muted black and grey, but with a little burst of pink on the shoes.

If you have confidence, these looks are very easy to pull off. Relaxed tailoring is comfortable as well as stylish, and anyone can find a way for it to suit them. An oversized blazer keeps things from looking too prim, while patent black courts are smart but don’t shout try-hard. A silk shirt with skull printed scarf keeps tailored trousers from looking boring, and some pink shoes injects a bit of personality into the outfit. Each sister opts for one simple piece of jewellery, the silver hoops or the little charm bracelet, so these looks are anything but fussy.

Run a bit of mousse through damp clean hair and leave to dry for some texture. Mess it up with your hands when dry if you want a bit more of a tousled effect. Now grab your kohl eye-liner and be a bit daring with smudgy, smoky eyes for that final grungy finish.

What do you think of Mary-Kate and Ashley’s looks?
