Jimmy Choo has officially released the much-awaited shots of Nicole Kidman for the Autumn/Winter 2013 campaign…

At 46 years old, Kidman doesn’t look a day over 30 in this stunning campaign, which features her as a fiery redhead who eludes power, sass and much confidence.

“Her character portrays the multi-faceted qualities of the Jimmy Choo woman for this season – strong, sexy with a beguiling sense of mystery,” says Jimmy Choo’s Creative Director Sandra Choi. Kidman appears to have a vibe that many women (and men, for that matter) would find appealing- a “you can look but you can’t touch”. Kidman can look sweet and demure, as she did in an Ellie Saab Fall 2012 Couture dress for the G’Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala or she can amplify her look to the extreme and transform into a lustrous goddess for the 2013 Oscars… remember that sparkling L’Wren Scott dress?

How Old Is Too Old?

Although the mother of two looked divine gracing the Jimmy Choo campaign this year, does her age make her a bit out-of-place for the brand? After all, previous faces for the Jimmy Choo campaigns have been much younger. Take the Fall 2012 campaign, for example, Querelle Jansen posed as a 60’s rockstar, aged 26. Raquel Zimmerman also posed as sexy hotel mistress for the Fall 2011 campaign, aged 28. Is it a bit risky for an older woman to take the helm following much younger brand faces?

A Whole New Jimmy Choo

Perhaps, Jimmy Choo does want to explore a new direction, especially after Sandra Choi told the Daily Telegraph “It’s time to give this place a shake” a couple of months ago. Jimmy Choo is a footwear brand which is familiar to almost all ages, with fans from Kim Kardashian and Megan Fox to Sandra Bullock and Kylie Minogue. Therefore, Kidman may have been implemented to target slightly older women this time, moving away from the vixens seen in past campaigns.

Designers Want Older Women

Jimmy Choo may not be the only brand to use an older face for their campaigns. Recently, 69-year-old Lauren Hutton became the face of Lucky Brand’s Fall 2013 campaign, looking impossibly youthful in a biker jacket and jeans. At 44, Christy Turlington Burns also made a modeling comeback after landing both Prada and Jason Wu campaigns. Talk about a hot commodity! Do you think age is nothing but a number or is it really vital in deciding who’s chosen to represent major fashion brands?
