Selfridges Gives You a Classical Christmas with a Contemporary Twist

With less than 6 weeks left until Xmas, I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping. However our forward thinking department stores are definitely giving us a helping hand in picking those pressies for our loved ones. Apart from shopping for Xmas, I love the creative marketing techniques which are used to entice us into shopping for our Xmas goodies from them.

However this year it would appear one store has gone all out. Selfridges. Forget the over extravagant lighting displays and the colourful Santa’s grotto. This time round Selfridges is showing us that it is ‘Not Your Usual Christmas’.

Calling in prolific photographer Bruce Weber to capture the magic of Christmas for this year’s campaign. The ad is eccentric and enchanting all at once and consists of a magical medley of contemporary, classical and wondrous. The ad includes a bewitched fairy in truly enchanting scenery, a boxer promoting the Selfridges brand in a yellow shiny robe and a young girl leading a pony through the beauty hall.

In the ad you will also notice one of cast members wearing a T-Shirt featuring an exclusive tree design hand drawn by Bruce Weber himself showing off the slogan ‘Give Something to Somebody That Has Never Had a Christmas’. Well if you fancy getting in on the action then purchase the T-Shirt from Selfridges to support Kids Company, an organisation that works with vulnerable children and young people.

Check out the ad below. What do you think? Has Selfridges really created something unsual for Xmas?
