Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton has certainly gone above and beyond for the fashion industry, earning her an OBE in Her Majesty’s birthday honours list for ‘services to fashion’.

Not only has seen dressed the Duchess of Cambridge in a variety of gorgeous dresses, but she also kitted her out in that wedding dress on her big day.

While it was all kept very hush hush, there were lots of rumours that the Duchess would be wearing McQueen on her wedding day and it was finally revealed when she stepped into her wedding car, and what a dress it was.

The dress, designed by Burton, has become one of the most copied wedding dresses in the world. It featured an applique
lace bodice and skirt as well as intricately designed sleeves.

Burton was one of three fashion giants to receive honours from the Queen. Mulberry creative director Emma Hill was given a CBE and jewellery designer Lara Bohinc received a CBE.
