Katherine Hooker’s tailored tweed designs have had a long standing relationship with Kate Middleton which stretching over 6 years. Kate Middleton was first spotted wearing Katherine’s designs back in 2006 at the Cheltenham Gold Cup, however the thrifty princess had the coat recycled and shortened for her first official appearance as fiancé to Prince William back in February this year.

However Kate’s favouritism with Katherine’s designs doesn’t stop there. Just a few days ago she was seen wearing a Katherine Hooker crepe dress and matching coat in Ash Simla silk with beaded lace trim at the Garter Day Service.

So being part of Kate Middleton’s favourite designers must have its benefits? Well, Katherine certainly seems to be reaping the benefits because back in November last year it was reported that she would be expanding into the US. However, now Katherine has decided to take her designs to the next level joining forces with Johnstons of Elgin to produce an exclusive cashmere collection. This partnership will help Katherine produce limited edition luxurious cashmere and merino woven made to order coats and jackets.

Her range of coats will include the ‘Jackson Coat’, priced at £1050 compared to her lower priced jacket the ‘Tali’ which will cost £970. This is a massive increase in comparison to her current collection which are semi-bespoke, with prices starting from £470 for jackets, and coats from £520.

Apart from having the famous royal, Kate Middleton on her fan base list, she has also built up quite a large celebrity following which include the Countess of Wessex, Sarah Brown, Yoko Ono, Jerry Hall, Kirstie Allsopp, Plum Sykes and Jemma Kidd.

With such a high accolade of famous celebrities as well as the well known Kate Middleton, I think Katherine new collection will do well. What do you think? Do you think Hooker will share the same fate of other British designers such as L K Bennett who have seen a resounding success after the Kate fashion intervention? Leave you comments below…
