Blake Lively Won’t Become Chanel Model-Turned Designer Unlike Kimora and Kate

Blake Lively is hot fashion news at the moment and after her appointment as the face of Chanel, the Gossip Girl actress is becoming a style icon in her own right.

However, it is very often that when a celebrity gets tagged as stylish the next step for them is to start designing their own collection.  We have seen it with the likes of Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham.  However, it would appear that Blake won’t be following that same route and says designing clothes should be left to the professionals.

She commented that “I’ve been asked about that,” she said, “but I have such a respect for fashion and such an appreciation for it that, if there are people like Karl Lagerfeld out there designing, who am I?”

However, even if Blake doesn’t think she has what it takes to become a model turned designer this has not stop others following that route.

Kimora Lee Simons

Take a look at the very successful Chanel-model turned designer Kimora Lee Simmons.  She is the president and creative director of Phat Fashions, with her celebrity fans including Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Alicia Keyes and Serena Williams.

Known for her confidence, Kimora Lee Simons is not only a creative designer but also a businesswoman.  She manages to effortlessly juggle this and motherhood together and is an inspiration to a lot of women out there.

Kate Moss

On a smaller scale British model, Kate Moss has also followed the same route of Chanel-model turned designer who created a clothing line for Topshop and designs purses for Longchamp.

Who is your favourite model turned designer?  Or do you think the fashion design should be left to the real designers?  Leave your comments below…
