Cate Blanchett’s Oscars 2011 Dress: Hit or Miss?

Submitted by on Monday, 28 February 2011 | 4 Comments

Usually Oscar dresses are known to be beautifully long and floaty gowns. Apart from a few exceptions like Helena Bonham-Carter, A-list celebrities like Cate Blanchett usually play it safe when choosing their Oscar dresses.

However this time we must admit Miss Blanchett has definitely got the fashion critics talking with her Givenchy lavender coutoure dress which features a round cut out section at the from with lavender and yellow pearl embellishments.

We personally love Cate Blanchett’s dress and don’t really understand what the fuss is about. Liz Kelly from the Washington Post criticised her look for being ‘a homely concoction’, however we thought it worked beautifully on her slender frame and the splashes of yellow embellishments adds some character to the gown.

What did you think of Cate’s dress? A hit or a miss? You decide…

Divine! Who is this Liz Kelly and she could only dream to look as stunning as Cate Blanchett in this dreamy dress!

I thought it was awful. It looked like the bib on a costume apron over her chest. And the resulting neckline did nothing for her.

I thought it was one of the ugliest dresses I’ve ever seen. The beads look like warts and the yellow is the colour of vomit. I felt ill just looking at it!
