H&M Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook
Has anyone else had enough of wearing layer upon layer of clothing and topping it all off with a winter coat, scarf and gloves? We certainly have, so it’s such a relief to see Spring/Summer 2011 collections cropping up all over the place. It’s time to start thinking about shedding those layers and feeling stylish in new silhouettes, prints and colours.
High street style giants, H&M, have finally released their Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook and it’s packed full of gorgeous vibrant colours, flowing shapes and inspiration from the 60s and 70s.
H&M’s head of design Ann-Sofie Johansson says: “It’s great to reinvent your wardrobe at the beginning of a new season. Fashion doesn’t change as drastically as it used to so you could easily get last season’s favourites to work with smart updates. Safe buys for spring are cool classics in beige or white, and the longer skirts and dresses feel new and very feminine.”
We whole heartedly agree with Ann-Sofie, trends from 2010 can be reworked and mixed with the new trends of 2011. Remember those denim jackets that were huge in 2010? Well, pull them out of your wardrobe and team them with gorgeous elegant silhouettes. Add colour to dowdy trends of the past with a printed scarf and class up a work outfit with a gorgeous leather handbag.
The new collection is a heavy nod to the 60s and 70s, with denim dresses and shirts as well as smart chinos and sharp patterns and cuts. Light weight, flowing fabrics will be perfect as the weather warms up. Camel and Beige is still going strong in the form of cute jackets and shorts and bold patterns are busy making eye catching statements.
