Milan Fashion Week highlighted a key beauty trend for this season: smoky eyes and berry lips.

This look makes a refreshing change to the usual pastel and bright colours we see every spring/summer.

Despite what we’ve been told about never drawing attention to both the eyes and lips, this look can work if makeup is applied properly, as demonstrated by the gorgeous Katy Perry in the video for ‘If We Ever Meet Again’.

MasqueradeMakeup has a pretty interesting video tutorial copying Perry’s look on YouTube:

If you’re still not convinced you can rock both a strong eye and lip look at the same time, having just smoky eyes or berry-toned lips would look great this summer too- and is definitely a more wearable option!

Try pairing MAC lipstick in Hang-Up, a vampy berry shade, with neutral eyes, such as the NARS duo shadow in Alhambra.

Or if you prefer to emphasise your eyes, Bourjois have made it easy for you to achieve seductively smoky eyes in a range of colour options with their Trio Eyeshadow. Finish off with an understated pout by slicking on a nude gloss such as MAC Cremesheen Glass in Boy Bait.

To make the look more striking, skip blusher and let your statement eyes or lips do the talking. Have fun experimenting!
