Fashion Trend 2010: Sailor Stripes are Back!

Whenever Spring/Summer comes around you can one hundred percent guarantee that sailor stripes are going to be making another appearance. That is exactly what has happened again in 2010 as sailor stripes have reappeared with a playful twist.

Of course the common stripy tshirts are back and more popular than ever and if you find yourself not wanting to be too daring then these are the perfect way to go but many highstreeet stores have added much more detail and put stripes on everything from blazers to dresses and even playsuits.

This gorgeous stripy playsuit is from PPQ at Very and is a very reasonable £29. The playsuit has thick stripes and very simply waist and collar detail. Thankfully you won’t need the hair to match!

Very.co.uk are currently climbing the ladder in the fashion stakes and have recruited Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby to create their own collections. Of course, Fearne Cotton is Britain’s edgier fashion darling and her range at Very includes sexy sailor stripes.

This referee style stripy blouse is another reasonable £29 and is modelled and worn by Fearne herself. The oversized block stripe tshirt (below) is a great take on the stripy trend as it is completely wild and different from the usual. The tshirt is oversized and will look great with plain black bottoms.

Figure hugging dresses are huge at the moment so Topshop have combined that with stripes to create some gorgeous nautical style dresses that are perfect for wearing in the daytime as well as in the evening teamed with some heels.

The Gold Button Stripe Vest is just £25 and in order to not over do it with the stripes they have opted for a plain black attatched skirt.

The Stripe Shirred Frill Tunic is the perfect casual stripy look. It is very simple and has just a touch of ruching detail and best of all, it comes in at £25.

The nautical trend has been done a million times before so it is best to wear alternative stripes such as the ones above, you can even wear different colours stripes because who said they had to be blue and white? A whole host of celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Rhinna and Jennifer Lopez are rocking the stripy trend so take some inspiration from them and team stripes with other plain block colours so you’re outfit isn’t too overpowering.
