Pippa Middleton’s Dress: Designers Work Hard to Create Copycat Pippa Bridesmaid Dress

If you’re a girl who loves weddings, then you will all have seen the wedding movie, 27 dresses, starring Katherine Heigl.  Remember those hideous 27 bridesmaid dresses she had locked away in her wardrobe?  Well, the film is often a true reflection of what we typically perceive to be bridesmaid dresses.  Often unattractive assembles which need to be ready for the bin soon after they were worn.

It would appear that Kate Middleton however, spared her sister Pippa from the embarrassment and instead she put Pippa in a cream fluid silk dress. The flattering gown showed off Pippa’s slim frame and included a cowl neckline and small button detailing running down the back of the gown.

However, this decision by Kate has certainly put Pippa on the map, and now many people, especially in the US are wanting replicas of the dress.

There are many companies responding to the demand of the ‘Pippa dress’ and some have even suggested that the dress will outsell Kate Middleton’s dress.   It certainly seems that this could be the case as Pippa’s dress can also be an actual simple but elegant wedding gown.

Where Can You Buy the Pippa Dress?

US Bridal retailer, David’s Bridal are working on the cowl neck version of the dress.  Design director Dan Rentillo told the New York Times: ‘There was really no anticipation about Pippa’s dress. I can’t think of one where there was such a fuss over the bridesmaid’s dress.’  Also, Andrew Hops, vice president for JS Collections, added: ‘She wore it so well, so we said, “We’ll do that dress right away.”‘

The two companies definitely expect Pippa’s dress to sell like hotcakes and their stock buy is a good reflection of this.  David’s Bridal have advised they will order an equal amount for both collections.  However JS Collections suggested that they will order more of the Pippa inspired dresses than Kate’s.

When Can You Buy the Pippa Dress?

The bridal companies have already made copies of the dress and it is expected that if you’re wanting to get your hands on one then expect a 6 to 8 week lead time.
