The most fashionable woman in Politics and Ambassador for The British Fashion Council, Samantha Cameron yesterday opened proceedings at the Autumn/Winter 2011 London Fashion Week.

Wearing a black Mulberry dress, Sykes blazer jacket and LK Bennett heels, the Prime Minister’s wife announced that “fashion is one of the most important industries, full stop.”

“I’m passionate about fashion, I love it, but it’s not just about how it makes people feel about themselves, it’s because of what it can do for our country,” she said.

Later in the evening, Samantha hosted her first fashion reception at Number Ten Downing Street for some of the industry’s most influential designers and some of the world’s biggest fashion press.

Models such as Claudia Schiffer and Erin O’Connor were in attendance alongside designers such as Christopher Bailey, Daniella Issa, Roksanda Illincic and Vivienne Westwood.

Editors from some of the country’s biggest fashion magazines were also in attendance and Samantha wowed them all in an Emilia Wickstead top and Christopher Kane skirt.

We think Sam Cam looks great!
