Footwear Trend for 2010: Clogs

Submitted by on Tuesday, 23 March 2010 | One Comment

A questionable trend always seems to spring up each year and for 2010 the very questionable trend is the clog. Now when we think of clogs, we tend to think ugly, brown and wooden footwear that you wouldn’t be caught dead in but thanks to style icon Alexa Chung, all that has changed.

Although some will remain firm haters of the clog, it has been given a stylish and modern makeover and has become one of the biggest footwear trends in 2010. Celebs such as Rachel Bilson, Jennifer Garner, Michelle Williams and of course, Alexa Chung, have been spotted wearing the shoes, causing the nation to divide into lovers and haters of clogs. Alexa fashionably teamed her clogs with grey tights and a lace dress at the Chanel Couture show at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year.

Whether you’re a fan or not, you can’t deny the popularity of the clog at this current time. They can be teamed with pretty much anything to create a fashionable outfit. They look great with girly dresses and tights and even cute shorts and tops for a summery look. Clogs also rank at the top spot in the comfort department which make them a shoe that can be worn day or night.

The Chanel S/S 2010 catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week included a heavy amount of clogs dressed with mini skirts, lace, jackets and patterned tights to create a real summer outfit. The British highstreet is hot on the heels of the designers as they are keen to get their public looking super stylish,

Asos.com have some fabulous, Chanel inspired studded clogs in a seductive tan colour that would look great with a denim jacket. What’s even better is the price tag at £85.
