It has come as no surprise that Stella McCartney will be kitting out the wardrobe of three of the biggest women talents for Wimbledon this year. Brit Laura Robson, Dane Caroline Wozniacki, and Russian Maria Kirilenko, will wear her new ‘Barricade’ range for Adidas throughout the competition, which is taking place in south west London for the next two weeks.

“Tennis is really one of the sport disciplines that I design that can really house feminine styles with high performance. We achieve this in our use of colour and cut as well as using all the latest technology. I am really proud to work with these incredible athletes to launch the collection,” says Stella McCartney.

It’s the third time 19-year-old British hopeful Robson has worn Stella for adidas to compete. Remember last year when Stella McCartney triumphantly designed the entire wardrobe for Team GB, in which Laura was taking part in? I know that when I am attending a meeting or interview I often wear clothes from designers which I feel comfortable in and know that it will fit right and this seems to be exactly the case for sports people and more specifically, the women’s tennis players.

“The new adidas by Stella McCartney barricade range makes me feel secure and comfortable on court,” says Caroline Wozniacki. “The bright colour blocking and advanced technology presented in every item I’m wearing gives me confidence to focus only on my own performance on court.”

What do you think of Stella’s collection? Love or Hate? Do you think after being a veteran to designing GB kits for major events and tournaments for the past few years, Stella should move aside and let other designers take the lead role? Let us know in your comments below…
