While her husband Prince William works hard away from home, Kate is busy with various Royal duties. One of which will be the very tricky decision to pick the new shoe designer of the future.

The Duchess will have to choose from six different designs created by De Montfort University students and the winner will get the honour of designing a unique pair of shoes for the Duchess to wear.

The winner will be picked on March 8th by the Duchess, who will be accompanied by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. The head of DMU’s footwear degree Kevin Guildford commented on the Duchess’ visit, saying: “It’s the most fabulous opportunity for the students who couldn’t hope for a bigger fashion icon to endorse their designs. Whoever wins is bound to be starting a brilliant career.”

De Montfort University vice-chancellor Professor Dominic Shellard added: “What a huge honour and magnificent opportunity this will be for the winning student. When asked who their first commission was for at their first job interview, they will be able to reply – The Duchess of Cambridge, the world’s leading fashion icon. Opportunities like this are exactly what our students can expect when they come to DMU, a university which is becoming known worldwide for its quality and distinctiveness.”
