This week’s news has been full of the new royal engagement, but who would have thought that an underlying story evolving from the news would be about out future Queen’s fashion sense.

The dress she wore to announce her engagement to Prince William was a gorgeous royal blue wrap dress by Issa London. 24 hours after the news broke, Harvey Nichols announced that the £385 dress had completely sold out.

“Since the announcement of the royal engagement we have been inundated with requests regarding Issa,” the store’s buying director Averyl Oates told Vogue UK.

Of course, it was merely days before the British high street jumped on Kate’s dress, creating replicas at recession friendly prices.

Supermarket Tesco has revealed that a £16 copy of the dress will be on sale this Monday as part of their F&F collection.

Tesco buying director Jan Marchant said: “Kate Middleton looked extremely elegant in her choice of outfit yesterday and many women will want to find a high street replica of this now iconic dress. We are delighted to offer a look-a-like Kate dress for just £16 and expect it to sell out fast as it hits Tesco stores at the end of the week. The dress is very versatile, a classic design and perfect for many special occasions.”

Lipsy will also be launching a copy of the dress, at a reasonable £45. This version encapsulates the dress in all it’s glory, focusing on the waist wrap and gorgeous royal blue material. The dress is available for pre-order now.
