Trend 2010: Cycling Shorts

Submitted by on Tuesday, 1 June 2010 | No Comment

When we think of cycling shorts we think stretchy black lycra and sweaty cyclists and the word fashionable certainly doesn’t pop into our heads. The 90’s cycling shorts trend has returned with a vengeance, and thanks to the likes of Prada, Louis Vuitton and Gaultier and their Spring/Summer 2010 catwalks, the cycling shorts are back on trend and you don’t need to go anywhere near a bicycle to wear them.

They made an appearance on the catwalks and celebs such as Alexa Chung have also been spotted wearing them. The British highstreet has jumped onto the bandwagon and have produced a range of coloured, patterned and oh so stylish cycling shorts.

Cycling shorts are our saving grace when wearing skirts and will save your dignity from any big gusts of wind. If you’re self concious about flashing your thighs then they are a great way to cover up, giving a slimming effect at the same time. Wear over tights for a cool layered look and wearing bold colours and patterns gives your outfit a sneaky twist as they peep out from under dresses and skirts. They are also a great alternative to leggings and teamed with a motif vest top and boots makes for a great rock chick look.

Topshop have a great range of cycling shorts ranging from £12 to £15 and they come in some great colours and patterns.

ASOS.com also have a great range of cycling shorts starting from £5 and rising to £104 for a pair of designer cycling shorts.
