Summer usually means one thing..festivals. Everybody loves a festival and for the fashionistas among us, they are a great excuse to hear your favourite bands and dress in festival chic, but a brand new festival is taking place this year that will mix our two greatest loves together for a weekend of pure enjoyment.

Vintage at Goodwood will take place on the 13th, 14th and 15th of August 2010 and will celebrate all that is musical and fashionable from the 40s right through to the 80s.

“Vintage at Goodwood features an inspirational line up of world renowned DJ’s, bands, collectors, purveyors of vintage clothing from each decade as well as contemporary bands and brands inspired by Britain’s rich creative heritage.Vintage will explore the musical, design and cultural lineages and explore where they are taking us. Think of Vintage at Goodwood as the new annual Festival of Britain.”

Music and fashion have always gone hand in hand and the festival aims to bring together lovers of both. They can share stories, band recommendations and even fashion tips on all eras including the Mods, Ska, Punk, Disco and Soul.

For those of you more interested in the fashion side of the festival, Goodwood will be offering vintage fashions from many decades in the form of catwalk shows, creative workshops and touching vignettes from designers, models and noted vintage experts.

“Only at Vintage can you spot the iconic creations of Mary Quant, Ossie Clark and Vivienne Westwood on the runway, see the fashion loves of a Sixties cover girl revealed before your very eyes, and turn your hand to sewing a 1950s circle skirt or a spot of Saville Row pattern cutting. All this before you’ve even had a chance to have your hair backcombed and sprayed in the Vintage Hair Salon!”

For the shopaholics in attendance at the festival, there will be the largest Vintage fashion bazaar in Europe with over 320 stalls of fashion and accessories and a ‘Vintage Village Green’ where couture labels with prêt a porter and street style from the 1940s through to the 1980s are available.

Also at the festival, Lily Allen will be making her forray into fashion after her retirement from the music industry.

Lily is launching her new vintage fashion label ‘Lucy In Disguise,’ with her sister Sarah, at this years festival.

The British ‘it’ girl’s new label will consist of hand source vintage and designer pieces that people will be able to hire at a reasonable price.

You should definitely keep your eyes open for the Lucy In Disguise launch at Goodwood. Lily and her sister Sarah are also currently looking for a London shop to house their new venture.
