Beyonce’s Style: Copy Her Shift Dress Look

At the launch of her new fragrance, Heat, Beyonce looked stunning in a blue figure-hugging shift dress.  The silk detail really attracts the eye whilst the red heels make a great fashion statement.

Shift dresses usually hang loose on the body because they’re designed without a defined waistline. So this is where you have the chance to accessorise with a range of waist-belts. By adding a belt, you are immediately creating curves you never knew you had.

This is exactly what Beyonce has done.  She decided to go for a chunky black belt that separates the all blue outfit.  Notice how easy it is to use one fashion trick that instantly changes the look of an outfit?

Copy BEYONCE’s look from the Highstreet:

Try adding some belts to these shift dresses. Here are a selection of a few from the highstreet!

Or if you want to stick to the ‘ready-made’ designs, there are a collection of dresses in high-street stores that already have the cinched in waist designed for you.

Here is New Look’s Pleat Neck Shift dress which is almost identical to Beyonce’s.  This dress has a high neck that makes it perfect for a smart party event and the pleated neck and hip pattern gives it a bit of character.  There is also a bold band of blue that is in the place of a waist-belt to emphasise your hips.  This is £18.

Miss Selfridge has a Black Stripe 2-in-1 dress at the price of £38.  Its top and skirt effect is really a dress that screams ‘fashionable’ with its detailed black and white stripes.  This does fit more lose around the waist, making it more comfortable to wear.  So there is no need to constantly be breathing in throughout the night!

So it’s your choice what style you go for but just remember to choose your belts wisely if you want to be in the same category as the celebrities.
