Shenae Grimes is known for her starring role in the American drama series, 90210.  Set in the sunny Beverly Hills, you would think that some of the sunshine setting in America’s surburbia would have rubbed off on Shenae Grimes, especially as she decided to tie the knot to actor Josh Beech Friday.

On May 10th, said ‘I do’ to British model and musician Josh Beech in not the traditional white wedding clobber but instead, in a black wedding gown, designed by Vera Wang.

Shenae wore Look 9 from Wang’s Fall 2012 collection.  The inspiration for the collection by Vera Wang came before announcing her separation from  her husband.  Instead of having a negative impact on Vera Wang’s image, the heavily black collection has got the creative coggles working by other designers who are incorporating the dramatic colour into their own wedding looks

Grimes accented her darkly romantic gown with a curled updo and deep red flowers, adding even more drama to what was certainly a memorable day.

However it isn’t only Shenae that decided to surprise the fashion world with her black gown as Keira Knightely decided to wed Klaxons star James Righton in the pale grey dress she had worn to a pre-BAFTA party in 2008.

She certainly shocked everyone not only as she has worn a recycled dress previously worn at another event but also that as she is the face of Coco Mademmoiselle, everyone was expecting her to wear one of Karl Lagerfields creations.  Instead she decided to take the unconventional route, just like Shenae.  She completed the look with a classic cream Chanel boucle jacket, some peach ballerina pumps and a simple garland of flowers in her hair.

Would you wear black on your wedding day?  Did you wear an unconvetional wedding dress?  Leave you comments to share…
